ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Launched in 2020 and officially incorporated as a non-profit in 2024, MENA Theater Makers Alliance is an advocacy organization that works to amplify the voices of Middle Eastern and North African theater makers and to expand how stories from and about our communities are told on U.S. stages. We believe the rich tapestry of American theater must reflect this nation’s true diversity, and nuanced representations of MENA perspectives must be a vital part of cultural production in the U.S. We take space, make opportunities, champion artists, and build relationships with other marginalized communities and allies to build a more vibrant American theater. The Organization is led by a 14-member national and volunteer Board of Directors, including representatives of MENA-focused organizations and individual artists committed to uplifting MENA artists and narratives in the American theater. MENATMA programs include biennial national convenings (in-person and online), annual Board retreats, as well as two new programs to be launched in 2026: Membership and Re-granting.
