2022 FALL CONVENING
Presented in partnership with the Arab American National Museum
Join the Middle Eastern and North African Theater Makers Alliance at the Arab American National Museum for our fall convening on November 10-12, 2022. The convening will feature networking opportunities with other artists, panel discussions, a showcase for MENA playwrights, opportunities to share your own work, and more!

Registration is sliding scale ($20-$100). Your registration also includes a one year membership to the Middle East and North African Theater Makers Alliance!
*Please note that this is primarily an in-person convening, select programs will be live streamed for those not able to attend in person.

Discuss important topics to our field and community in small groups. (@ The Annex)

6pm ET: Heather Raffo's Noura at Detroit Public Theatre
Attend a special open rehearsal of Noura followed by a talkback with playwright and lead actor Heather Raffo. The event will culminate in a reception hosted by the Arab American National Museum. (seperate RSVP required)

3:15-5pm ET: Projects-in-Progress: Rapid Share-Out Exchange with AANM Resident Artists and MENATMA
This is an opportunity to share images, videos, and information about your work and works-in-progress! Each artist will have up to five minutes to share. Sign-up is required (spots are limited and are first come, first served), but all are encouraged to attend. (@ The AANM Auditorium)

8pm ET: DRONE - Work-in-Progress: Testimonies and Music
Public performance of excerpts of a new play by Andrea Assaf, with text based on actual testimonies of survivors and witnesses, accompanied by live music featuring internationally acclaimed Syrian vocalist Lubana Al Quntar. Followed by a dialogue with the artists and audience. (@ AANM Auditorium)

Join 2022 Arab American Book Award winners and honorable mentions for a celebratory reading of the winning books. The event will feature catered reception and book signings.

All Artists-in-Residence, MENATMA members, and the public are invited to share their own work at an open mic after the awards ceremony and catered reception. Each artist will have up to five minutes to perform (with a public audience). Sign-up is required. Spots are limited and are first come, first served. Sign up to perform here.
